I’m a Reiki Master and have worked with both Reiki and Crystals for healing and promoting well-being for many years. Rei – means cosmic, Universal Energy and Ki refers to the fundamental life-force energy which flows through every living thing. Universal Life Energy cannot be seen, but it is the essence of all that is. Reiki is Universal Life Energy - the Energy of Love and is good, kind, loving and totally safe. We cannot heal another – it is up to the recipient to take and use the Reiki energy offered by the giver who channels Reiki Universal healing energy to balance, heal and harmonise the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Reiki works holistically to promote relaxation and a sense of wholeness and well-being. Energy is vibration and everything has a vibrationary rate including Crystals. Crystals have been used for millennia to heal and bring balance through their different vibrational rates and, like Reiki, Crystals work holistically and on all levels to realign subtle energies, rebalancing us and bringing our chakra (energy centres) back into balance. Working with Reiki and Crystals, either separately or in combination, I offer healing treatments and chakra balancing. I am also happy to discuss attuning others to the healing energies of Reiki. What is Chakra Balancing and why is it important?
Our chakras are our energy centres. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “wheel”, “disc” or “vortex”. They receive and transmit energy and an imbalance in our chakras can affect the way we think, act and feel. Our chakras are the energy linkage centres that connect the physical body with the subtle bodies contained within our aura which surrounds our physical body. The chakras distribute life force energy through the physical and subtle bodies. It is important that we find a balance in our chakras to avoid being too open to outside and Universal energies and keeping our energetic boundaries. The key word here is “balance” - an “imbalance” in your chakras means that some chakras are over-active, and some are under-active. Finding that perfect balance is the main purpose of Chakra balancing and Chakra healing. If a chakra becomes blocked the subtle energy flow can become imbalanced and dis-ease or disharmony on the physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level eventually results. While being “One with the Universe” may be the ideal state of Being and the ultimate spiritual goal, it is important not to rush this - first you need to learn to differentiate between you, the Universe, and “others”, who may not be as spiritually advanced as you, and who may hold you back or drain you, if you are open to their energetic influence. It is also important that we are grounded in our own energies.
The aim of a chakra balance healing treatment is to restore balance and equilibrium between the chakras so that life force energy flows through the chakras evenly. Each chakra is associated with a specific colour and crystal and as a Reiki Master and crystal therapist, I like to combine both these healing modalities when giving a chakra balancing treatment. I also use Ange’s chakra balancing essences which she has described in the last edition of this newsletter.

Reiki uses the Universal Life Force Energy which flows through every living thing. This Universal Life Energy cannot be seen, but it is the essence of all that is - the Energy of Love - and is good, kind, loving and totally safe. In addition to being a wonderful healing therapy, Reiki also offers its practitioners and recipients a code for living through the Five Principles of Reiki which I wanted to share with you in this edition of the Quarter Day Newsletter. The Five Principles of Reiki offer us an opportunity to change the way we think and the types of thoughts and inner dialogue we have with ourselves every day. They also provide us with a more positive way of living and being and seeing the world; bringing ourselves back into a state of inner harmony and balance in our mind as well as our body and thus enabling us to live in harmony and balance with the outer world.
The First Reiki Principle: Just for today, I will not be angry.
When we are angry at ourselves, with others or the whole world we create serious blockages in our body’s energy centres – our chakras. We become out of balance and lack ease (dis-ease) in our minds as well as our bodies. Reiki is an excellent tool to remove anger blockages which have accumulated in our body over years. Letting go of anger brings us to a state of harmony, balance and peace of mind.
The Second Reiki Principle: Just for today, I will not worry.
Anger focuses our attention on past and present events. Worry preoccupies our thoughts with future events. While concern for the future may be positive as you plan to ensure the smooth unfolding of this future event - endless worries are negative as they can fill your head with repetitive thought patterns, each one boring a small hole in your body and soul. A Reiki treatment can help to bring you back into a state of harmony and balance, spreading the healing energy throughout the entire body and letting you see the situation from a perspective of calm.
Letting go of worry, brings healing into the body as well as the mind.
The Third Principle of Reiki: Just for today, I will be grateful.
When we look at our life from a place of gratitude this fills our heart with joy and we enter into a state of inner positivity which will manifest in outward positivity in our daily lives. Inner intention is the important element in this principle. Simple things such as being thankful, forgiving others, smiling, and lending a helping hand can improve life for others and also bring happiness and harmony to ourselves. Being thankful brings Joy into the Spirit.
The Fourth Principle of Reiki: Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Work to support yourself and your family in a respectful way that does no harm to yourself, others or to the environment. We are all connected so what we do in this respect will affect every living being around us and our planet. When we honour this principle we live a life with honour and care and consideration for all. Working honestly brings Abundance into the Soul.
The Fifth Principle of Reiki: Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.
Living with an attitude of kindness starts with ourselves. Treating yourself kindly and with love leaves no room for anger, worry or negativity. We can be free to be who we really are – a being of love, in harmony and balance. When we live in this state it will radiate out to all those we come into contact with – our family, friends, other people we encounter in our daily life, animals, and plants. Living kindly makes our world a better place for all.
